We Are The South Florida Community for
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Serving the east and west coasts of South Florida
Meet Us, Join Us...We're the therapists
with the best training in the world to help relationships. Therapists with training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) are using the "gold-standard" for therapy to help relationships. Grounded in attachment theory, EFT is currently the best-delineated and most scientifically validated approach to relationship distress of the past 30 years.
EFT began as treatment for couples ("EFcT"). EFT is also available to help individuals ("EFiT") and families ("EFFT"), and many EFT therapists also have this additional training experience. As a present-focused, non-blaming and collaborative model, it's helpful for those with diverse cultural backgrounds, issues, as well those who are LGBTQ. Let us help you live and love better. What is EFT?
EFT is based on clear, explicit ways to understand relationship distress and adult love that is supported by extensive research on love, attachment, neurobiology, and romantic bonds. This model is collaborative and respectful of clients. It is a combination of humanistic (client-centered), experiential, and systemic techniques and interventions. The change process has been mapped into three stages and nine steps. EFT has also been applied to different kinds of problems (for example, individuals, families, trauma, addiction, etc.) and populations. EFT has also being expanded to effectively treat individuals and families.

Who We Are
The South Florida Community for EFT provides opportunities for mental health professions to learn the practice of EFT.
We are also a supportive network of local therapists with varying amounts of training in EFT who wish to support each other clinically and create a referral network. All official professional training events are led by certified EFT trainers recognized by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT.com) directed by Dr. Sue Johnson. Additional events, training and social activities for therapists and/or clients to promote EFT are hosted by professionals in the community. |
Our Mission
We are committed to fostering the development of a community of EFT trained couple and family therapists in this region to fill the community's need for competent therapists. We work to increase public awareness of EFT as an effective, science based treatment for strengthening relationship bonds. We are dedicated to promoting the learning and practice of EFT and we encourage therapist certification in EFT and lifelong learning. We promote collegiality and cooperation among EFT therapists.
